The panel provides strategic, expert and impartial advice to the City of Sydney. It helps develop, implement, monitor and review our policies, strategies and plans to improve the inclusion of people with disability.

People with disability from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. We invite applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, young people, older people, people from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, and people from LGBTIQ communities.

Sabrina Houssami, chair of the current Inclusion (Disability) Advisory Panel is keen to see more people with lived experience apply.

"It’s delightful to chair a panel with such unique expertise, with many of us identifying as a person with a disability. I have a severe hearing impairment as well as Type 2 bipolar disorder, and I work in the talent acquisition space.”

To ensure that people with disability can fully participate in the meetings, supports such as Auslan interpreters, live captioning and meeting papers in alternative formats can be provided to members.

You can apply in a range of formats including videos in Auslan, Easy Read and large print applications, and over the phone with one of our City of Sydney team members.

Current panel member Tara Elliffe has this advice to potential applicants: “Have a go! Don’t be afraid to share your experience.”
