Australians generate more than 650,000 tonnes of e-waste each year and much of it ends up in landfill. Some e-waste contains toxic chemicals such as lead, mercury and arsenic, which can leach out from landfills and into waterways. Other e-waste can also contain precious metals that can be reused.
All e-waste collected is processed locally, and around 95% of raw materials are recycled. Components are stripped, then broken down into commodities and circulated back into the market for new products.
