What's driving Sydney's future prosperity?

Hear from inspiring innovators at CityTalks

CityTalks will be held at Sydney Town Hall

We’re hosting a free talk about how we can unlock innovation in our economy, and make it more sustainable and inclusive, with world class and unique experiences for everyone.

CityTalks: I choose Sydney - what is driving Sydney's future prosperity? will be held at Sydney Town Hall on 1 August. Hear how our new economic development strategy 2025-2035 will set up the right conditions for innovation and lead to a more equitable and sustainable city.

A panel of experts across innovation, entrepreneurship, global events, science, and inclusive and civic leadership will demonstrate why, in an era of so much choice, you should choose Sydney.

“Australia’s economy is changing. We need to stop relying on digging things out of the ground and transition instead to sustainable and inclusive industries,” Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore AO said.

“We must create space and conditions in our cities to accommodate the jobs of the future, so that innovation thrives and the world’s best and brightest minds work here.

"This is an opportunity to hear inspiring and innovative leaders discuss how we best move our economy forward and overcome the challenges of climate change, rising inequality and economic uncertainty that pose a threat to the ongoing prosperity and way of life in Sydney.”

The Lord Mayor will be joined by Zareh Nalbandian, co-founder of Animal Logic and CEO of Animal Logic Entertainment and Truant Pictures. Film credits include Happy Feet, The Lego Movie, and Peter Rabbit, and visual effects for The Matrix and the Marvel movies franchise.

“Sydney stands at a pivotal moment for economic growth, positioned to capitalise on its strengths across various sectors,” Mr Nalbandian said.

“We need to harness these strengths while embracing innovation and inclusivity, focusing on attracting and retaining talent.

“Our commitment to developing Australian talent and content will play a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future that fosters creativity, opportunity and prosperity for all.”

The evening will be hosted by Holly Ransom, international speaker, CEO of Emergent Global and author.
