We're seeking applications from groups to participate in the celebrations.
The Sydney Lunar Festival is the largest celebration of its kind outside mainland China.
Join the festival as an entertainer if your group or performance celebrates the Lunar New Year, one of the cultures that observe the Lunar New Year or the Year of the Ox.
If successful, your group will be placed into one of the following shows.
The performance will take place on an 8 metre-wide raised stage with professional lighting, audio and team:
Successful groups will be paid $300 for their involvement in the festival. If you present more than 1 performance piece, you’ll be paid $300 for each selected.
There’ll also be opportunities for groups to be contracted as roving entertainers. This will be a street level, pop-up style performance with greater opportunities for crowd interaction. Roving performances will be supported with basic audio and will undertake training from the City of Sydney.
Each roving performance will be around 1 hour and each group must commit to a minimum of 3 performances on the following dates:
We’ll discuss suitable performance schedules and roving requirements with successful groups. Performing groups will be paid $1800 for their involvement.
To be part of the official festival program, groups must specialise in highly choreographed traditional or contemporary performances.
Applications close on Monday 14 December 2020. Find out more and apply today.
Sydney Lunar Festival 2021 takes place from 12 February to 21 February 2021.
