Our new civic engagement program for young people

Participants from our youth opportunities program sitting on Town Hall steps. Participants from our youth opportunities program sitting on Town Hall steps.

This program is open to people aged 16 to 24 who want to develop their civic engagement and leadership skills.

Engaging workshops and networking events will see participants get a deeper understanding of how governments function, equipping them with tools to transform our democracy.

The program is open for applications from young people who live, work or study in the City of Sydney local area.

Running from 28 April to 30 June, this 6-part series will equip young people with the skills to create positive change. Each 2-hour workshop will cover key topics like civic literacy, leadership, social impact, digital advocacy, public speaking and civic action, along with a Clifton Strengths assessment to help participants develop their unique strengths.

The program will conclude with a networking event, connecting participants with youth-focused social impact organisations to foster long lasting change.

This program is part of our emerging civic leaders series and was developed in consultation with Run For It and Raise Our Voice Australia.

Applications are now open. The program is free for all successful applicants.

Applications close Monday 7 April.
