Failed to vote: What to do

Revenue NSW issues fines. The City of Sydney has no authority over these notices.

Voting at local government elections in NSW is compulsory. The last City of Sydney election was on Saturday 4 December 2021.

Revenue NSW issues penalties to anyone who didn’t respond to failure to vote notices from the NSW Electoral Commission.

The City of Sydney has no authority over these notices and can’t excuse the fines. To query the penalty notice, contact Revenue NSW or call the NSW Electoral Commission on 1300 135 736.
