Using three cameras set up at Mrs Macquarie’s Point on Sydney Harbour, Daniel Tran selected up to five different images from fireworks and harbour scenes throughout the night to create the layered images.

Daniel used Photoshop to layer some of the best moments during the displays for each image.

This is the first time the technique has been used to create the layered images of the Sydney New Year’s Eve fireworks on the night.

“I used a special filter for night photography to cut out light pollution to help produce a more natural look, that also helped reduce the post-production work so we could share the image quickly,” Daniel said.

“I'm honoured to be given the opportunity and responsibility to capture the fireworks over Sydney Harbour during New Year’s Eve.”

It's been a big goal of mine to photograph the Sydney celebrations, and I really wanted to capture something a little different and unique.
