Be part of Yananurala, a new walk that celebrates connection to Country through art and installations
We’re calling for First Nations artists and designers to highlight Aboriginal stories and histories on a 9km walk along the harbour foreshore.
Sitelines and Conversations installations will bring Aboriginal stories to life through public art and interpretation. They will make visible and celebrate connection to Country.
The project aims to:
In the future, major public artworks will also be located at significant points along the walk. Artists and designers can submit a concept design for the installations until Tuesday 22 November 2022.
The selected artist or design team will work with the City of Sydney, Yananurala curator Emily McDaniel, and technical and Aboriginal community advisors to develop a concept design for Sitelines and Conversations sites.
Together we’ll refine the concept design following community and stakeholder consultation, including with the City of Sydney Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Panel, the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council and state government partners and cultural organisations.
Following the detailed concept design stage, the selected team will work with the curator and the City of Sydney to identify and procure suppliers to fabricate and install the work.
