Sydney Lunar Festival is set to be a roaring success when an all-female team of lion dancers show exactly why they are world champions at their sport.

The all Chinese–Australian team will light up Circular Quay in LED lion costumes and dance to thrilling drum beats as crowds flock to see the world champions.

The group, who train at the Chinese Youth League, won the MGM Lion Dance World Championships in Macau in November 2018.

“Winning the championship was a huge achievement and a real highlight for the team – and it was such a surprise!” said Ching Tan, Chinese Youth League President.

This year’s Sydney Lunar Festival will feature the champions and other lion dance performances at Circular Quay and Chinatown until 10 February.
