Move your garage sale online

Staying safe on the Garage Sale Trail in 2020.

Dubbed the Covid recovery edition, this year’s Garage Sale Trail will see treasure hunters find pre-loved clothes and household goods online and in neighbourhoods on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November.

A few things are different this year. We’re recommending online trade as the safest way to get involved. No matter what restrictions are in place, online sellers and shoppers can stay safe while they declutter or find a bargain. Every virtual garage sale will have a unique sale page that provides clues to who’s involved, what’s on offer and how shoppers can seal the deal.

The Garage Sale Trail will take place both in real life and online in 2020

Shoppers can visit the Garage Sale Trail website and search for sales in their neighbourhood, flag items of interest, and coordinate their own trail of sales to visit.

Last year, around 18,000 households around Australia took part in Garage Sale Trail. Shoppers in the City of Sydney's area were spoiled for choice with 660 sales, and over 5,000 bargain hunters.

This year, more than ever, the program will use the second-hand economy to support local businesses and residents on the road to economic recovery. The average household sale generates around $400 through sales of pre-used goods.

But it’s not all about money. By taking part, you’re also helping to save the most lasting bottom line, our environment. Last year, Garage Sale Trailers diverted over 3.2 million kgs of items from landfill – all by putting a little value into the principles of second-hand goods.
