Making a building or development application will now be easier thanks to online and email lodgements.
You’ll be able to save time and energy when the NSW Planning Portal accepts the following from 1 July:
- Development applications including modifying consent and reviews
- Complying development certificates
- Construction certificates
- Occupation certificates
- Appointments of principal certifying authority
- Subdivision certificates
Staying on top of your applications will be simpler with email updates at each step. You’ll also be able to view your application status at a glance from your own dashboard on the portal.
Email lodgements will continue for all other applications.
“We’ve been accepting development applications by email since we closed our customer service centres due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” manager customer service Catherine Veronesi said.
“The feedback from users has been encouraging. Our email customer satisfaction survey found users were very happy making applications digitally.
“Research we undertook last year revealed customers want to be able to do more online and lodge applications using digital channels.”
To prepare for online lodgements, you can register with the portal. There may be some changes to the documents you need but don’t worry, you can use the current application forms as a guide. We’ll publish more information on the City of Sydney’s website from 1 July.
We'll no longer accept applications by post or USB.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
