Sydney’s Vivid festival is back and brighter than ever with a host of new experiences to light up your start to winter. Go beyond the highlights and discover 7 exciting ways to dive into Vivid Sydney 2024.
1. Machine Hall
5 to 15 June
Discover Machine Hall, a historic substation transformed into a vibrant music venue. Over 10 nights the Clarence Street venue hosts a line-up of local and international artists covering everything from hyperpop, rock, dance and soul to fashion, voguing, First Nations artists, storytelling and queer acts. Highlights include US indie rockers Deerhoof, First Nations band No Fixed Address, singer-songwriter Jen Cloher and hyperpop artist Underscores. 2. Neon Lyric Walk at Hollywood Quarter
24 May – 15 June
Come visit the Hollywood Quarter precinct in Surry Hills as part of a curated walk for art and music lovers. The precinct will be bathed in a neon glow as 12 venues present their own interpretation of the songs and lyrics that have informed our collective past and touched on the concept of humanity. Enjoy food and drink deals for every taste and every budget, along with live music gigs, DJs, performances, workshops and guest panels, and special cinema screenings from Wednesday to Sunday each week. 3. Fire Kitchen at the Goods Line
24 May – 15 June
Vivid Fire Kitchen returns, igniting its new home at The Goods Line with flame-seared street food from around the globe. Come wander around the flame-lit night and feast from fire-cooked dishes from around the globe. Flame throwers, fire-sculptures, fire pits and more add to the bustling market atmosphere.

4. Dark Spectrum
24 May – 15 June
Go deep underground, travel back in time within the Wynyard Tunnels. Discover a spectrum of touchable colour with 300 kaleidoscopic lasers, 500 handmade lanterns and over 250 searchlights in an underworld of intensity and power.
An epic soundtrack filled with dance tracks and club hits will draw you deeper as you move through this all-new kilometre long immersive experience made up of eight different chambers where light, sound and colour collide. Book now.
5. Champions of Change: Mackenzie Arnold and Tony Gustavsson
10 June
Join Tony Gustavsson and Mackenzie Arnold from the CommBank Matildas at Sydney Town Hall for an insightful discussion about sports and leadership, hosted by Grace Gill. Gain unique perspectives from the football stars who captured Australia’s heart. Book now.
6. Nest on Stargazer Lawn
24 May – 15 June
An expansive circular structure on Stargazer Lawn, Barangaroo welcomes you to bear witness to the ritualistic mating dance of the brolga, one of only 2 species of crane native to Australia. Projected onto a transparent surface, the huge bird apparitions appear to float in the air and are visible from both out and inside the installation. Learn more.
7. Shifting Perspectives
29 May to 1 June
Step into an all ages, all abilities, immersive dance performance at Walsh Bay. This thought-provoking dance and light installation invites you to roam within a vast maze of mirrors. Around you, dancers glide past 24 reflective plinths, their movements echoing infinitely. Light dances in unison with sound and you’re enveloped in a reality-bending spectacle. Learn more.
