Things to do

Uniquely wonderful acts offer Sydneysiders a night out to remember

Musical theatre, choirs and community groups light up the Sunset Piazza stage.

Destructive Steps

The first of half of the city’s pop-up stage Sunset Piazza has awoken Sydney’s music scene after a year of pandemic lulls. Sneaky Sound System, Peking Duk and Allday were just a few of the contemporary artists to sell out the concert series.

But if you dig a little deeper, you’ll find that there’s more than just pop music on offer.

Musical theatre, street choirs, poetry and hula are just a few of the stars that will make your next night in the city one to remember.

Rewired on the Piazza is the latest production by Hayes Theatre Co, the home of musical theatre and cabaret. With a mission to change the way you see your favourite musicals forever, 5 extraordinary performers will mash up genre and style, putting their entertaining spin on familiar tunes.

Looking for an electrifying night out? Head to the Piazza on Sunday 14 March for Rewired.

On Thursday 4 March, Sydney’s diverse and talented local performance groups will bring an evening of light-hearted fun and variety to Cathedral Square, with 8 groups performing across the night.

The Sydney Street Choir brings together people experiencing hardship and disadvantage for a night of bright and inspiring songs. The My Sauce Good band will add their soulful and groovy collection of Spanish sounds.

The Hamiltons
The Hamiltons

Cabaret duo, The Hamiltons, will perform highlights from their sold-out French-inspired London cabaret shows. Or catch the Cajon Cats band of box drummers for some Latin and African flavours.

You’ll also see the incredible Sydney hula group, who will share their love of Hawaiian hula with a special dance from the island of Oahu.

So, if you’re into a bit of everything and fancy a good night of live performance, food and wine, don’t miss the community concert.

Eddie Perfect

He’s worked with Baz Luhrmann (Strictly Ballroom the Musical), the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Australia, and has spent the last 2 years living and working in New York, where he penned music for the smash hit, TONY-award nominated Beetlejuice the Musical.
