Keeping children and teens entertained in the school holidays can be a tricky business, so we’ve done the hard work for you.

We’ve rounded up some events and activities to keep your kids occupied. Check out our ideas for kids of all ages.

A perfect creative outlet for young children, this workshop invites them to explore art using everyday toys such as wind-up cars and balls to create unique patterns and textures. Held weekly on Thursday mornings at the Juanita Nielsen Community Centre, it's an excellent opportunity for children and their carers to bond and get messy together.

These interactive classes are designed to get parents involved in their children’s learning. They run every weekday through the school holidays at Sydney Park Cycling Centre.

Presented by the Australian Shakespeare Company, this enchanting production comes to life with colourful characters, interactive games and delightful songs. Showtimes vary, with morning and afternoon sessions available on select dates. Tickets start from $25, with children over 12 months requiring a ticket.

Creative coding workshops

In the first session, children will be introduced to the basics of coding, guiding them to craft their own computer-generated artwork. Following this, the Imagination Lab builds upon these skills, allowing kids to delve deeper into coding concepts and create more intricate digital art pieces. Both sessions are facilitated by experienced creative coder Jared Berghold and designed to inspire a passion for technology and art.

Designed by young people for young people, our yearly event runs from 9 to 17 April - and this year, there’s something for everyone. From gaming and live music to trivia, we’ve got your entertainment sorted. Plus, enjoy free food, prizes and the chance to meet new friends while having a blast.

Event highlights:

15 April – Pathfynd: a thrilling scavenger hunt through the city centre. Book free tickets.

Pixel art maker day

Join us at the Darling Square Library makerspace for an immersive experience into the world of 8-bit pixel art. Craft your own pixel-art masterpieces using tools such as Piskel and Adobe Creative Suite. Once designed, these creations will be transformed into tangible items such as keyrings or badges using a laser cutter. Bookings are essential.
