This month, there's something in Sydney for everyone. If you love live music, art, or performance there's heaps to be excited about. Plus, if you're keen to learn, you'll love Raising the Bar and Sydney Writers' Festival at the end of the month.

YCK Block Party

10 of the most popular bars on York, Clarence and Kent Street are throwing a massive 6-week party to celebrate the city centre. 75 events across the venues include music and magicians at Uncle Ming's or poetry and live music at Since I Left You.

Other venues involved are: Papa Gede's, The Lobo, Spawn Point, The Barber Shop, The Duke of Clarence, Stitch Bar, Prince of York and Grandma's Bar.

Gather the crew and take a seat in Liverpool Lane to enjoy live DJ sets and board games. With everything from ramen, sushi and fried chicken on the menu, there are plenty of different flavours to satisfy everyone.

Raising the Bar

The perfect after-work activity for curious minds: a combination of 20 different talks, across 10 venues on 1 night. Hear from a food scientist, an experiential futurist, a musicologist and other experts. The hard part is choosing which talk you’re most interested in!

Wednesday 28 April

Makerspace sessions at Darling Square Library

You could learn how to make a simple robot, build squishy circuits or create your own stopwatch or water sensor. With just 10 people in each class, you’ll get individual guidance from 2 experienced facilitators.

Hyde Park Barracks

After Dark at Hyde Park Barracks

The new monthly late-night series transforms the museum with live music, performances and ideas. This month, enjoy music performances curated by FBi Radio including headline act Lara Andallo, supported by GLO and DJ sets by Kilimi. The theme for April is the upcoming installation Who goes here? by acclaimed Australian artist Fiona Hall.
