City of Sydney residents can make their homes more sustainable by applying for free home energy assessments through the Our Energy Future program.
For a fixed time period, an energy expert will visit homes to carry out an energy review, analyse bills and examine options to reduce energy use and develop an action plan.
Our Energy Future is an independent energy advice service initiated by the Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils, designed to help residents reduce their power bills without compromising on comfort.
“We’re working hard to dramatically reduce carbon pollution in our city, but we can’t reach our ambitious targets alone – we need people who live and work here to get on board, too,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.
“So we’ve partnered with Our Energy Future on a trial of free home assessments to help residents reduce their electricity bills and their environmental footprint.
“The home energy assessments offer simple, practical advice to help residents navigate what can be a very complex topic.”
The service offers independent energy efficiency information and advice on actions and products, including solar panels, LEDs, insulation, draught proofing, hot water systems, green power and heating and cooling.
The City has helped reduce emissions across the residential sector through the smart green apartments program, working with strata managers to identify efficiencies across their buildings.
To register interest for the limited number of free assessments, residents can call 1300 339 915 or visit ourenergyfuture.org.au/city-of-sydney/
