Get to know your neighbours at community BBQs

Published 15 February 2016

The City of Sydney is hosting a series of Good Neighbourhood BBQs this March and April, giving residents a chance to get expert safety advice while meeting their neighbours.

As part of the City’s efforts to promote community safety, the free barbecues will feature talks from local police and City staff on crime prevention and security initiatives, and events and activities in the local area.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the barbecues were important community builders, allowing residents to meet new people and learn more about their neighbourhood.

“Our Good Neighbourhood BBQs encourage people to get to know people in their community they may not have come across before,” the Lord Mayor said.

“It’s really important to build strong connections with neighbours, helping make our local communities safe and enjoyable places to live.”

In addition to a tasty barbecue, the events will also feature family-friendly fun including live music, children’s activities and Kidzoo mobile farm animals.
