Inclusive pool party in Sydney city

Published 12 January 2023

Trans gender diverse open day

Sydney’s trans and gender diverse communities are invited to a fun, free, family-friendly open day at Cook + Phillip Park Pool on Saturday 28 January.

Visitors and their partners, families and friends will enjoy free exclusive access to pools and the gym, and be treated to snacks, DJs, games and roaming entertainment into the evening.

“The City of Sydney is passionate about finding ways to celebrate diversity and support inclusivity,” Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore said.

“We understand that transgender and gender diverse communities might find visiting a pool challenging, which is why we’re holding this open day. We want everyone, irrespective of their gender or sexuality, to feel comfortable at our swimming pools.

“As we countdown to Sydney WorldPride 2023, we will continue to celebrate the rainbow community in myriad ways, and we hope everyone enjoys this relaxing and safe afternoon at the pool.”

The event features free and exclusive access to:

  • the 50m indoor pool
  • aqua aerobics classes
  • the indoor wave pool with water features and floating beach toys
  • gym facilities and group fitness classes
  • snacks, DJs, games and roaming entertainment
  • the chillout zone.

Community sport and advocacy groups will also be on hand at the event to provide visitors with information and carry out interactive demonstrations.
