Sydney sports teams have a new multipurpose playing facility to enjoy with The Crescent Sportsfield completed and welcoming athletes of all ages.

The synthetic field in Annandale is designed for futsal and five-a-side hockey matches, and a variety of teams can train on the durable surface.

“With increased demand on places to exercise and play, this new world-class facility will help keep the area’s growing population active,” Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore AO said.

“It’s an all-weather surface, which means sports teams can practice and play matches even after considerable rain.

“We have also installed lighting to further boost the sportsfield’s availability, and of course there are goals for both football and hockey teams.

“But this project is about more than just an all-weather pitch. We’ve provided better walkways and places to park bikes while also installing a natural grass area for visitors to enjoy and use for picnics.”

The pitch is 38m wide and 61m long and is available for bookings from 8am to 10pm on weekdays and 8am to 6pm on weekends.

Lighting complies with Australian Standards and will only be switched on when the field is booked.

The Crescent Sportsfield complements the nearby Federal Park skate park and playground, natural grass fields at Jubilee Park and the open green space available across the Glebe foreshore.
