Young happy snappers make the cut

Published 28 August 2016

Cute and colourful images of toys, nature, animals and the outdoors have been captured by some of Sydney’s budding young snappers for the 2016 Little Sydney Lives competition.

Twenty 3–11 year olds from across Sydney have been selected as finalists for the annual photography competition that invites young photographers to capture images of life in Sydney from their perspective.

The finalists’ images, selected from almost 250 submissions, are in the running to win $1,000 in prizes and will have their images blown up and exhibited in Sandringham Gardens in Hyde Park from 15 September to 9 October.

City of Sydney CEO, Monica Barone, said the annual competition provides a fascinating insight into how our youngest citizens view their city.

“Our city’s littlest photographers have demonstrated that talent certainly comes in small packages,” Ms Barone said.

“The Little Sydney Lives photography competition is celebrating its sixth year and has become a favourite exhibition among the people of Sydney.

“The creativity of our youngest residents continues to amaze and entertain Sydneysiders and visitors of all ages.

“I encourage everyone to support our young creatives and come along to the exhibition.”
