Sydney’s youngest photographers have been creating lively new works that capture their fresh perspectives. These images were taken by kids aged 5 to 12.
I took this photo at the Blacktown Lunar New Year Festival. I ran to the front of the stage with a camera and was excited when the dragon went right over the top of me. Mostly I photograph animals, but I love taking photos of anything fun and interesting.
We like to go bushwalking with my family. A bit of rain will not hold us back. It’s even more fun when there are puddles to splash through.
I took this photo at a park near my house. The shadow looks like a skeleton of a dragon.
This photo goes behind the scenes of sibling love in daily life. It shows the close bond between a brother and a sister.
I took this photo on the train in Sydney during a day out with my grandma. I used a disposable camera and didn't expect these colours. My grandma went back to her home and the picture looks beautiful.
My dad and I just finished playing tennis, and I saw a ball bounce while the sun was setting. I hit one up in the air and snapped this photo right when the sun was shining through it! It looks super cool—like a perfect sunset moment.
My brother has autism and this is his most prized possession, a soft toy cow named Dash. They do everything together and my brother wanted this portrait for his bedroom wall.
I was waiting for my friends to meet me at the local park one day. I pulled out my phone camera and started playing around with a slow shutter speed and liked the creative effect it gave me.
Eye spy with my little eye is my favourite game to play with my baby sister, Summer. It helps her learn the alphabet. We laid in Martin Place Metro station together, playing this game. Can you spy us with your little eye?
I took this photo at our Little As zone championships of my younger brother doing his long jump. My family loves little As and all 5 of my siblings compete. This is my favourite picture I took that day because it shows how hard he is trying.
I've always visited Centennial Park with my family. We often feed the ducks but on this day, Mr Percival decided to greet us. I felt so excited to see my sister feed him, it reminded me of the story we had read at school.
This is a photo of my brother with a butterfly. He is looking nervous because he is intrigued and fascinated by the butterfly but also worried about what the butterfly will do next.
I tried to catch a moment: my brother laughing under water that flew up like upside-down rain. The drops froze mid-air, like time paused to watch him play. It felt like the sky was having fun too, and for once, we didn't run from the rain we ran into it.
This photo is mummy and her shadow. I like seeing how mummy is different to her shadow. I made it black and white because it made the shadow stand out more. I did the double-exposure in the camera, not the computer.
I play for the Marrickville Spirits U12s representative team. I took my film camera to capture some moments of us training.
My dad was one of the founders of Porters, a skate place built by skaters - and now I go there to skate.
I was photographing this seagull flying above the busyness of life on street level in the sea of people. It was able to soar past the beauty of the Opera House uninterrupted.
My Dad and I went to the Thrifty 500 at Sydney Motorsport Park. I saw this awesome Repco ShowTime C10. It sounded amazing!
On a warm summer day, water-loving Edward captured this underwater selfie in our bathtub while exploring his new camera. Always eager to play and discover, he immersed himself in the moment, turning an ordinary bath into an exciting adventure beneath the surface. A snapshot of curiosity and fun!
There was an event in Eveleigh that celebrated the Indian festival of Holi (arrival of spring). My school friends and I spent the afternoon throwing coloured powder at each other, dancing and having henna painted on our hands. The best part was sharing my culture. This photo is the aftermath of the powder fight on the floor and my coloured feet.
Today the sea was mad, crashing onto the rocks and land like a cranky old lady. Meanwhile, the wind also had a lot to say whipping our hair around with her big breathy wails. My sisters and I took a kite to converse with the elements - seemed like they needed to talk.
