Better streets and spaces

Greening Waterloo

The inner-city suburb will be enveloped by a lush canopy of new trees following overwhelming support by residents.

  • Danks Street

We’re replacing poorly performing trees from Danks, Crystal and Potter streets and Gadigal Avenue with 97 new trees.

  • Gadigal Avenue

Part of our commitment to increase tree canopy by 50% by 2030, the new trees will provide cooling shade to residents, similar to streets in Redfern.

  • Potter and Bourke streets

Following community consultation, and design and feasibility studies, the project began in May 2020.

  • Potter and Crystal streets

Our arborist assessed existing trees and recommended new species to increase canopies in Waterloo by 50% once they reach maturity. The species include brush box, spotted gums, lilly pilly and Chinese elm.
