D’harawal Saltwater woman and artist Shannon Foster uses water from the harbour, as well as ash, sap, soil and sand from Sydney in her work.
Naba Gumal (‘Family and Friends’) was chosen from proposals submitted to the City of Sydney to feature on banners and signs throughout the city for NAIDOC Week 2018.
It draws from the tradition of local Aboriginal people who have stencilled onto sandstone walls for thousands of generations.
