Alfresco city: Outdoor dining opportunities extended

We’re now waiving all outdoor dining permit fees until June 2023.

In December 2020, we launched a free, fast-tracked application process for outdoor dining permits.

This made it easier for restaurants, cafes and bars to turn footpaths, roads and car spaces into outdoor dining spaces.

So far, more than 400 permits have been granted across inner Sydney, creating a buzzing, cosmopolitan vibe.

Following the success of the initiative, we’re now waiving all outdoor dining permit fees until June 2023. And the on-street dining program will continue until 30 April 2023.

Participating businesses have told us outdoor dining has been a crucial aid to staying afloat during the Covid-19 pandemic. Feedback from our wider communities has also been overwhelmingly positive.

Here’s how you can apply for an outdoor dining permit.
