Art and About creates public art in unusual spaces.

Since its beginning, the series has brought creativity into laneways, streets, squares and unexpected corners – surprising audiences and sparking conversations.

In 2026, Art & About will take a fresh direction, focusing on reinvigorating the Oxford Street and Taylor Square precinct.

If you’re an artist or creative that has a unique idea to enliven this area, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

What we're after

We’re looking for a mix of temporary outdoor and indoor art that respond to the unique characteristics of the area.

Outdoor works could be large artistic installations, artworks and sculpture. We’re looking for visually striking, high-impact artworks. Outdoor works will be displayed around Oxford Street and Taylor Square.

Indoor works could include things such as exhibitions, workshops or small-scale performances like dance, theatre or comedy. Venues will be East Sydney Community Arts Centre and Darlinghurst Community Space.

You don't need past experience

Applications are welcome from anyone: individuals, groups, organisations, professional artists and amateur creatives across various artistic disciplines.

You’ll get funding and plenty of support

Successful applicants will receive funding as well as expert guidance, practical support and promotion to help realise their vision and connect with wide audiences.
