From November, speed limits on selected roads in our area will be lowered from 50km/h to 40km/h.
The new speed limits will apply to selected roads in Alexandria, Annandale, Beaconsfield, Forest Lodge, Glebe, Redfern, Waterloo, Woolloomooloo and Zetland.
Reduced speed limits are part of our ongoing commitment to safer, more welcoming streets.
To reflect this change, we’ll remove 50 signs and road markings, and install new 40km/h signs and markings by the end of the month, weather permitting.
This adjustment aligns with our access strategy and action plan, reducing vehicle speeds to enhance safety, support placemaking and lower traffic noise and emissions.
When walking, riding or driving, remember to stay alert to your surroundings and observe posted speed limit signs.
With most of our streets already set at 40km/h or below, this change brings all local and regional roads in our area to the safer speed limit.
Transport for NSW oversees speed zoning and the NSW Government’s Safe Speed program funded this project.
