Austin Butler comes to town

Rub shoulders with a Hollywood star at the Australian premiere of The Bikeriders, starring Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy. Director Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter, Sydney Film Festival 2011) presents a stylish, gritty take on the rise and menacing transformation of an iconic American motorcycle club.

The Minions descend on Sydney

Gru is back in Despicable Me 4 for its Australian premiere. Following the 2022 blockbuster hit of Illumination’s Minions: The Rise of Gru, the biggest animated franchise in movie history comes to town. So, put on your best yellow outfit and head to this family-friendly event.

Free lunchtime shorts at Martin Place

Drop by any day of the festival at 12pm for a specially curated suite of acclaimed and amazing short films from Australia and around the world on a big screen. There’s even complimentary popcorn so you can have the full cinema experience.

Film lecture with Australian director Phillip Noyce

Following the screening of Rabbit Proof Fence’s 4K restoration, director and producer Phillip Noyce will discuss his illustrious career with filmmaker Muralikrishna Thalluri. Noyce is the winner of Sydney Film Festival’s inaugural 1974 Rouben Mamoulian Award with Castor and Pollux.

See Australian film Kid Snow

Be the first in the world to see the story of Kid Snow: the down-and-out slugger with one last shot at the title in a travelling boxing tent show. Paul Goldman’s beautifully photographed film brings to life a distinctly Australian form of entertainment that’s now all but extinct, with an added mix of romance, blood, dust and redemption.

An evening hosted by Andrew Bukenya where you and friends can revel in live music from your favourite films. Olivia Vásquez, star of Sydney Film Festival’s film The Sloth Lane, and seen onstage in Moulin Rouge! and West Side Story, will be one of the stars to delight your ears with song.
