To make the planning process more convenient, the City of Sydney’s new ePlanning service provides a suite of online tools.

Smart forms hosted in the Lodge tool guide you every step of the way, ensuring you provide the required information and documents. Your online application is automatically saved, letting you finish it in your own time.

Follow the progress of your application online, from lodgement to determination, in the ePlanning Search tool. You can also use this tool to prepare your application by investigating the development history of your site.

Another preliminary step is understanding the planning rules that apply to your site and development. Look up your address using the interactive map and view the key planning rules such as building heights in your area.

For large or more complex development, you may need to request pre-lodgement advice from the City of Sydney before you proceed with a formal application. This is 1 of 4 new online forms including local heritage exemptions, state heritage works and state heritage modifications of approval.

The launch of ePlanning is the next stage in making the planning process easier and more convenient.

You’ll be able to do more online without having to make a phone call. The service will help you navigate the planning rules and more smart online forms will be available along with the range of building and development applications already being lodged in the NSW Planning Portal.
