These short art-themed walks take in various points of interest around the city.

Walking

It’s almost that time when runners, joggers and walkers take to Sydney streets for City2Surf.

More than 80,000 people will tackle the 14km course, including the infamous heartbreak hill, on Sunday 12 August.

Preparation is key to success on the charity trek from Sydney to Bondi. So if you’re planning to pound the pavements, here are 4 short art-themed walks to help get you warmed up.

All of these walks, with maps, directions and points of interest, are available in the City of Sydney’s free walking tours app, Sydney Culture Walks.

Eclectic will take you on a tour of Pyrmont and Glebe, where you’ll discover illuminated treescapes, swirling wind vanes and even a technicolour school fence. The 6km walk takes 2 to 3 hours to complete – bring your camera!

Sculpture ticks off notable sights along the way including the Sydney Opera House and Royal Botanic Garden. Perfect for a lunchtime power walk, this 3km route will lead you past some of Sydney’s most spectacular sculptures.

Homage is a walk on the wild side. Get used to walking up and down hills with this stroll from Kings Cross to Surry Hills and the city. You’ll find some tall local tales along the way, through a number of site-specific artworks. This 3.3km walk takes 2 hours.
