In pictures: The Big Adventure 2018

Hundreds of families jumped, pedalled, danced and explored Sydney Park as part of the celebrations.

  • Parkour crazy

    Parkour workshops were one of the most popular events on the day. More than 600 kids tested their skills, jumping, rolling and flying through a tricky obstacle course set up in the park.

    With tennis, dancing, parkour, AFL and learn to ride sessions, the park was a hive of activity.

    Indigo was among the little groovers who learnt some new breakdancing moves with Soul of Sydney.

    Over 300 children tested their balance on the hills of the park in workshops with Australian Mountainboarders.

  • Riding with style

    7 year old Saina impressed the instructors with her balance and skills on the mountainboard. It was her first time and she did the workshop with her dad.

    8 year old Lachlan enjoyed mountainboarding so much, he told his mum Lucy he now wants one for Christmas.

    Siblings Kaikona, Lahi, Phoenix and Katalina created their own paper planes with world paper plane champions pilots and watched them soar through the sky in delight.

    X Games Sydney athletes wowed the crowds with spectacular BMX, skate and scooter shows throughout the day.

    After weeks of rain, families made the most of the sunshine. Sydney Park became a communal backyard filled with giant Lego forts, games and places to relax.

More than 10,000 under 10 years olds live in our area, and an increasing number of them are growing up in inner city apartments.

The Big Adventure was a great chance for families to get active and enjoy some great green space with 7 adventure zones to discover on foot or by bike in the stunning Sydney Park.

The Big Adventure is part of the 2018 Sydney Rides Festival.

The festival closes with a spectacular night-time walk or ride along Mrs Macquaries Road at Light the City this Saturday.
