Covid-19: Mental health and wellbeing support for our creative sector

October is Mental Health Month.

It’s no secret it has been a very difficult time for our whole business community, and the cultural community has been hard hit.

As we transition out of lockdown and Covid-19 restrictions affecting the sector, the City of Sydney is here to help. We have a dedicated team to answer any questions and steer you in the right direction with either City of Sydney, state or federal government resources available. Call us on 02 9265 9333 Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4pm or email CityConcierge@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au.

A Covid-19 rescue and restart package has been announced for the NSW arts and cultural sector. Funding is available to NSW commercial and not-for-profit performing arts organisations, and live music venues impacted by the cancellation of shows.

Create NSW has a comprehensive listing of grants and other financial assistance for creatives.

Contact the Support Act wellbeing Helpline on 1800 959 500 if you’re concerned about any aspect of your mental health. Support Act provides crisis relief services to artists, crew, music and the live performance community. Visit its website to find out more about wellbeing support, funding and how others in the music community have overcome challenges.

Well Mob provides social, emotional and cultural wellbeing online resources for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.

The National Association for Visual Arts (NAVA) has funds available for disaster and emergency visual arts practice recovery via the Artists’ Benevolent Fund.

Visit NSW Health for a comprehensive contact list of mental health support services.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back, doing what they do best.
